Downtown New Gotham, Wednesday evening
"You ready for this, Raven?"

Dinah was perched on the fire escape above Raven, watching the diamond district shops across the street. 'Bad Penny', the woman Arrow had been following, had started a series of smash-and-grabs after dark the week after New Year's, and hospitalized enough security guards and police personnel that Oracle had taken an interest. The pattern so far suggested she'd be hitting this street tonight.

A good time to try and break in a new crimefighter.

[for the one mentioned, but open for phone calls]

No such luck.

"Hey!" The guy swung his gun to point at Raven. "What the hell are you doing here? Boss! We got company!"

Dinah leapt upward and toward the guy, kicking out and yanking with her TK to get the gun out of the equation first.

Raven darted all the way into the room, trying to get out of the way of Dinah and the henchman. As she scanned the room to try to see where Bad Penny and her other minions were, she spotted a broom against the wall and grabbed hold of it. It wasn't exactly a fighting stick, but it might do to defend herself.

The lights were still out, which made the sizzle of electricity on the other side of the storage room stand out all the more, and then there were more pounding feet headed their way.

"Cover my right," Dinah said, taking the guy down with a head-butt. "And--"

Okay, more electricity, no time for talking, fighty now!

Raven braced herself with the broomstick even as she sent her Soul-Self soaring up toward the ceiling. She hoped she could remember Prince Lucivar's teachings if one of the men got close enough to strike her. Of course, it wouldn't help much about bullets and electricity, but that was what her Soul-Self was for.

A whistling sound cut through the darkness from behind Dinah and Raven. It was followed by a thunk and a cry of pain.

Dinah reflexively ducked, then dove forward for the next guy, already thinking What the--? She managed to kick his knee out, then they were fighting, close quarters.

Three guys down, just this one left, and--

"Arrow," spat a woman's voice behind her, had to be Bad Penny, and she didn't even have time to look, the fight taking up all her attention.

Raven was watching Dinah's back, however, and saw the woman moving up behind her. "No," she said, calling her Soul-Self down to wrap around Bad Penny.

"Penny," a voice called from the shadows. "You're getting predictable, you know."

But the next arrow was held. Someone wasn't sure you should shoot through whatever it was that was wrapped around Penny.

That wasn't going to be a factor for much longer. Though she was trapped inside Raven's Soul-Self, Penny could still use her powers, and she unleashed an electrical blast at the darkness around her.

Raven screamed as her Soul-Self exploded, sinking to her knees as the pieces of it rushed back into her body, leaving Bad Penny free again.

"How's that for predictable, Hood-man?" Penny hissed. Another strike of electricity arced past them both, and Dinah somersaulted to cover Raven.

"Hey Penny!" She lifted the henchmen and threw him into the ceiling. "Just you now. Surrender and we'll keep the bruises to a minimum."

Arrow's answer was apparently to take the shot he'd held, an arrow slicing across the room aimed at Penny's arm.

He'd toss in a quip later.

Raven staggered unsteadily to her feet, pressing herself back against a wall and trying to keep out of the way. That had been a foolish mistake (and she could already hear Karla chastising her in her mind). She'd been too confident and prideful.

Now she was going to let Dinah and the stranger deal with Bad Penny.

Penny screeched again, as the arrow hit her arm.

Unfortunately, that seemed to make her powers go crazy, and Dinah had everything she could do to stay out of the way of the electricity zapping everywhere.

How to take her out, and keep Raven from getting hurt, and--

Dive roll and end up next to Arrow, panting for breath. "Did you mean to do that?"

"Shoot her? Yeah. Didn't realize she was that close to losing control, though." He pursed his lips, drawing another arrow and setting it to his bow.

"Got any bright ideas?" Cause if not, he had a very sharp arrow...

"Water plus electricity--" Dinah pulled a flare off her belt, flicked it to sparking, and handed it to him with a rubber-band. "Shoot the sprinkler head."

Then she was busy shoving Penny back with the telekinesis, to keep her from getting any closer. And ducking. Lots of ducking.
