Room 312, Thursday late afternoon
After her spar with Tahiri, Dinah wound up with enough bruises and aches to need a break, and watching the episode of Darkest Night that she'd missed last night seemed like a good idea. Lying on her bed, she cued up the website on her laptop, and promptly started laughing four minutes into the ep.

"Oh, c'mon! He's just a big puppy!"

The door is open, and Dinah is giggly.

[and so is the post!]

"He's not that shallow, and you're a good ways from too many, it's your first kiss together!" Dinah bounced and did a little sitting dance. "I'm happy for you guys. People should be together."

Francine's complete agreement with that statement will come as a surprise to no one, but woohoo, go deflection so she didn't think too hard about it and jinx the whole thing. "What about youuuuuu? You're people. Have you found yourself an other people yet?"

"Noooo," Dinah said thoughtfully, nibbling a little on her cookie. "I kinda-sorta hoped to start something with Seregil, with that bet I lost, but... It's so hard to read guys." She blushed, then asked, "Do you know Lee Adama?"

"No kidding." Francine snorted, then put name to face. "With the arms and the chin? Rowr. Doesn't he have a girlfriend, though?"

Dinah nodded, then looked tragic. "Girlfriend?"

"She worked in the clinic this summer," Francine said with a sympathetic nod. "I think she's in college now."

Dinah flopped onto the bed, burying her face in a pillow for a second, then raising her head to inform Francine, "My instincts? Suck. I talked forever with him at Turtle's party. And he wasn't flirty, but he seemed really nice...."

"Mine do too, most of the time." Francine grabbed a spot on the carpet and took a nibble at her cookie. "I only ended up going out with Merlin kind of by accident," she admitted.

Dinah propped her head on her hand, wanting to hear this more than dwell on Lee Adama being taken. (Woe.) "Oh right, you guys were other people that weekend you were supposed to go out the first time. Soooo... how does the accident work into it?"

"I sort of called him and left a message saying I'd love to go out with him? Which doesn't sound very accidenty, but it was that day when everybody's voicemail was all messed up."

"Oh nooooo! But that was really brave of you... did you ever find out who got it? I mean did anyone ever say, 'so, are we on for Saturday'?"

"Sort of? Except it was Merlin." Francine cast a furtive glance at the door like there might be squirrels with digital records. Or big ears. "The message wasn't for him. Never, never tell him? Please?"

Dinah's mouth dropped into an 'O', and she blinked stupidly at Francine for a second before nodding, then shaking her head in confusion. "I promise, no, I won't tell! He doesn't have to know that." She reached for another cookie, and asked, "Do I want to know who you meant to ask out?"

"Well, I thought I was returning a call, not really asking somebody out, you know?" Ahh, the truth, best stalling technique ever. "'Cause I got a message that wasn't for me too."

"Oh, sure. Who from?" Dinah asked, then said, "I got one from Arthur, freaking out about the answering machine that day. In retrospect, hilarious. At the time, I called back and read him the riot act. I wonder who got that one?"
