Room 312, Thursday late afternoon
After her spar with Tahiri, Dinah wound up with enough bruises and aches to need a break, and watching the episode of Darkest Night that she'd missed last night seemed like a good idea. Lying on her bed, she cued up the website on her laptop, and promptly started laughing four minutes into the ep.

"Oh, c'mon! He's just a big puppy!"

The door is open, and Dinah is giggly.

[and so is the post!]

"Alfred's kind of a cooking god," Dinah agreed, letting the cookie melt in her mouth with a happy sigh. "He feeds Barbara 'cause she always forgets, and Helena because she eats fast food, but me he feeds because he claims I'm still growing. I'm not telling him any different even if I never grow another inch." Camille batted at Priestly's cookie, and Dinah shook her finger at the kitten. "No, no, not for kittens."

Priestly had broken off a tiny piece of cookie. He quickly palmed it at Dinah's admonition.

Maybe he'd give it to Ramone later.

"What, he can't just feed ya 'cause you gotta eat?"

"If I'm there, sure. But if I'm not...." Dinah thought about it, then added, "Partly it's because Helena gets all defensive about having a butler who's not really a butler. But if he's just a friend feeding us, it's okay in her head. Helena has issues."

"He's not really a butler?" Priestly blinked, reaching down to scratch Camilla's chin.

With the hand holding the piece of cookie.

"Is he a superhero?"

Camille, unnoticed by Dinah, nommed the cookie crumb and looked very pleased with herself.

"He should be? He always knows how to get to places or how to find stuff you never expect, and there's the super-baking. Plus he's really good with a shotgun," Dinah suddenly remembered. "He's like 80, and he takes care of Helena's dad's big manor... thing. Which is a lot more work than you'd think."

"So . . . he's a retired superhero?"

Dinah paused, thought about it, and realized, "Yeah! You know, he really is. He did a lot of Barbara's stuff for Helena's father when he was being a superhero. The bandaging up the wounds and arranging alibis and stuff." She grinned. "I am so pointing that out to him when I see him next month."

"Maybe I should learn how to do that."

"Ooooo," Dinah said, straightening. "You could! They have that class in Heroing, right? Maybe they'll have it again next term. Or, first aid, and hacking, stuff like that." She gave him a hopeful look. "In between the political theory. Which I'm going to go look up stuff for on Sunday, I think."

"Dude, I rule at political theory." He kind of didn't. "I should be your Alfred guy."

Dinah was totally thinking this would rule. "You could! Which means you get to drive the motorcycles and cars when they're not at crime scenes and stuff. And weapons! And and throwing parties... you would so rock at this."

"And I totally already know how to cook!"

"Eeeee!"

Somewhere, Barbara was facepalming.

Dinah offered him a fistbump. "Superheroes Unite!"

"Fight the power!" Yeah, that totally wasn't entirely appropriate. Shut up, Priestly was still new to this superhero business.
