New Gotham, Saturday
"Braaaaaains," Dinah chanted at Gabby. "Huuuuuuungrrrrryyy..."

"You need more blood on your face, hold still," her roomie answered.

The accoutrements of zombification were everywhere around their apartment. As well as the canned goods needed for their entry fee.

Now all they needed was an army.

[ooc: for those going zombie-walking! threads up in a second.]

Re: Wuh-Oh.

//It's like New Gotham knew I wanted to hit something today,// Jono mused, his hand creeping up to reach for the top of his wrappings. It would decimate his make-up job, sadly, but like hell he could sit this one out when there were guns being fired over the heads of the crowd. //Honestly, if they weren't firing off guns all willy-nilly, they could've gotten lost among us and they'd probably get away without a hitch. Bloody morons.//

Yes. Yes, he was saying this on a more or less open channel. Because some days you just had to tell people that they were idiots.

But weapons had been fired and people were scattering for dear life, now. It would be difficult to actually catch up with the crowd, at this rate. Poor losers.

Re: Wuh-Oh.

"If they're using Grundy as they're muscle, it's not because they've got an excess of brains for themselves," Dinah said, ducking a little behind a parked car, and peering over to assess the damage. A couple garbage bins might have rolled into the way of those guys, but she was trying to be at least half-way under cover.

Re: Wuh-Oh.

//Fabulous,// Jono muttered, ducking behind the car along with her. So long as his face was still covered, his fire wouldn't draw attention their way, after all. //I'm guessing Grundy is the big, extra charming one, then?//

Re: Wuh-Oh.

Dinah grimaced. "He's an urban myth-- well, I thought he was! The last time anyone saw him was at least fifteen years ago." She was looking around frantically, seeing the NGPD taking cover positions along the zombie walk route, trying to shout at the robbers over the chaos. "He's some kind of zombie, he's got the brains of one, and he's really--"

CRAAAAAAASH!

That would be a car going through a shop window, thrown by Grundy.

"--uh, strong." Dinah grimaced, catching sight of two of the robbers heading south down the sidewalk, running fast. "We've got to keep those guys away from the crowd."

Re: Wuh-Oh.

"GRUNDY NO LIKE COPS!" Grundy howled, picking up a newstand and throwing it at the police.

Some of the zombies were running, some were milling around and trying to fake their way out of this....

"Grundy, come on!" yelled one of the robbers. "Getaway car this way!"

Re: Wuh-Oh.

//I get this insane feeling like perhaps Grundy's not terribly interested in getting away,// Jono mumbled, leaning up so that he could look over the top of the car's hood, just a little. Sure, he could survive without a head. That didn't mean he was in any hurry to get shot in the face.

He ducked back down again, pinching the bridge of his nose.

//Easy, big guy,// he said, stringing up a link between himself and Grundy. //There are good people in this crowd. Nice people, who aren't cops. You wouldn't want to hurt them, would you?//

It seemed like it was worth a shot. And he wasn't hugely worried about being the one to talk to him. It wasn't as though picking out the one person with long-distance telepathy in the crowd would be easy to do. Or even particularly possible, unless Jono got up and started gesticulating while he was at it.

Re: Wuh-Oh.

Grundy wheeled around, eyes wide and confused. "WHO TALKING? WHO TALKING TO GRUNDY?"

"Shit!" muttered one of the bank robbers, then clearly gave up on Grundy, running as fast as he could. Dinah gave Jono a thumbs' up and gave chase.

"WHOOOOOO?! SOLOMON GRUNDY TALKING TO YOU!"

Re: Wuh-Oh.

Okay, Jono. Think fast.

//Jiminy Cricket,// he replied, burying his face in his hand as he did so. //I'm here to be your conscience, mate. Relax, just calm down. Isn't it so much nicer to be calm?//

It would be so much easier to just stand up and blow him to kingdom come, wouldn't it? But Grundy hadn't actually hurt anybody yet, and there were still far too many people desperately shambling away, trying not to draw attention to themselves.

Re: Wuh-Oh.

"LOUD CRICKET," was Grundy's comeback. He snarled, whirling around and around, and then picked up a car. "QUIIIIIIEETTTTT!"

Re: Wuh-Oh.

Well. That didn't work.

//You want me to be quiet?// Jono's head was peering up from behind the car again, looking to see where the crowd was, as compared to Grundy. Most of them still seemed to be in front of him, which meant... //I'm right behind you. See if you can find me, hm?//

Yeah, it looked like the wrappings were going to have to come off soon, after all.

Re: Wuh-Oh.

Grundy turned and threw the car. And then started charging in that direction, away from the crowd. "COME OUT NOW! FIGHT GRUNDY!"

And that lead to the zombies scampering in the other direction, as far away as possible, and then running because REAL ZOMBIE GET AWAY YAAAA! So hey, at least that part of the plan worked.

Re: Wuh-Oh.

Yessss! Jono was going to consider that a point for team good guys, here!

//Oop, can't see me? I forgot to mention, I'm very, very small. I am a cricket, after all. You might have to get down on your hands and knees and squint.//

Please get down on your hands and knees and squint?

Re: Wuh-Oh.

Grundy did in fact, get down on his hands and knees. Then roared.

"LYING! LYING TO GRUNDY! GRUNDY HATE THAT!"

Good-bye, Prius. You were a nice car when someone parked you there.

Smaaaash!

Re: Wuh-Oh.

Dinah had come running back by now, and stopped on the other side of the square from Jono. Most of the bystanders had cleared out by now; there were a few zombies who looked injured, or who were playing dead, along the edges of the sidewalk close to Grundy.

Hunh, not a bad strategy, she'd have to remember that....

Okay, maybe-- She concentrated, and a little VW bug started rolling away from Grundy. Maybe he'd follow it, maybe it would give someone cover, maybe Jono could use the distraction?

Re: Wuh-Oh.

Bless you, Dinah. You were Jono's favourite telekenetic.

//Oop, you're right. I'm actually in that car that's moving, there. It's a bug, do you get it? A cricket driving a bug? Again, I'm very small, maybe that's why you missed it when I moved to get into it...//

Jono was slipping out from behind his cover, trying to make his way around to Dinah, now, his hand reaching up and starting to peel his wrappings down, just in case.
