Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Jono was from London. Jono was familiar with Eurovision.

Jono was not sure if now would be a good time to cut his losses and run or not.

//... Anybody who stands a good chance at winning so far?//

Look, curiosity was a powerful thing.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

There would be no escape.

"I have actually read that the United Kingdom's entry is greatly favored," Raven said. "I think she is slated to go last, however, so we will probably be able to see at Dinah's party after this." She bumped her shoulder against his. "You are going to the party, are you not?"

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

//There's a party? I had no idea,// Jono fibbed, spreading his hands helplessly. //Are you certain I'm invited?//

That was a stupid question, Jon.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Raven rolled her eyes. "Of course you are," she said, thwapping his arm. "Dinah considers you a friend, and she would not exclude you. So you are going."

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Jono had had that arm thwap coming and he knew it. He raised his eyebrows in mock surprise and spread his hands helplessly.

//I suppose I've got no say in the matter,// he replied, //have I?//

Much as he loved being on huge crowds of mostly strangers, and all...

//It is Dinah's graduation, after all. That doesn't happen every year. And she's put so much work into this.//

That's right. So don't be a jerk, Jon.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

"Absolutely none," Raven said, crossing her arms and giving him a look that dared him to disagree.

But she couldn't hold the stern expression for long. "But when you are ready to go, just find me, and I will take you back to Fandom so you do not have to wait for a portal."

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Jono couldn't argue when she was offering him a free pass out of there if the party got overwhelming, really. He gave her a thankful look as she made the offer, and nodded.

//I appreciate it, Sunshine,// he replied. //Most of these people are near strangers to me. I wouldn't want-// to be stared at //-to intrude.//

He was still bad at the people game. Improving, but still bad.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

"Most of them are strangers to me as well," Raven said. The people from Fandom she knew, of course, and Helena and Barbara and Dinah's roommate Gabby. But she hadn't exactly been a social butterfly the year she'd gone to school there.

She knew what Jono wasn't saying, though. "I understand," she said. "In the past I have been uncomfortable at these kind gatherings." Not so much now, at least not with the face she'd been trying to present to the world.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

//At least not everyone there will be a stranger,// Jono mused. //You, Dinah, Momoko... Er...//

He still didn't know Jaime or Priestly as well as he probably should have.

//You... Dinah. Momoko...//

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

"Have you never met Helena and Barbara?" Raven asked. "Well, I shall have to introduce you then. And Alfred, he will have prepared delicious food that I will share with you, if you would like. And anything you wish to drink." She grinned and winked at him.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Oh, don't give him the choice, Raven. He'd be making eyes at the beer for the entire night. And that could only end in...

... Okay, there were a few nice ways that could actually end.

//It does sound like a good time,// he admitted, looking a little flustered as he thought back to the way the last party had ended for them. //And they're all Dinah's people, so they can't be all that bad, either, right?//

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Raven wouldn't complain. Much. But she might make faces at him while she drank.

"I have liked all the friends of Dinah that I have met," she said. "And if the party is to be at the Clocktower, then I do not think it will be a large gathering."

She tilted her head and looked at Jono when she picked up on the flustered thoughts. "Are you all right?" she asked.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

//Just fine,// Jono replied, working his way up to a faint blush. Dammit. //Just, er, mind is wandering, is all.//

Lil' bit.

//Nice ceremony, innit?//

Smooth.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

That blush wasn't making Raven's grin go away anytime soon.

"There could be that as well," she said, dropping her voice. She sent him the faintest sensation of nails dragging down the back of his neck. "It might make me more inclined to leave early."

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

By some miracle, Jono managed to keep from shivering.

Barely.

//Let's see how Eurovision goes, hmm?//

That was very much not a no.
