Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Someone very familiar was walking through the stadium, trying to find her seat. Even if she wasn't wearing vines and leaves, she was pretty unmistakable, if you knew what to look for.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Raven caught sight of the woman and was surprised to see her there. She thought she was still in Arkham, but then again, as far as she knew from her visits she'd been doing well, so perhaps she'd been released? She just hoped she wasn't up to anything mischievous.

She excused herself and got up to make her way through the crowd. "Pamela!" she said with a smile when she was close enough. "It is good to see you. I did not know you would be here."

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Poison Ivy (aka Pamela Iseley) startled, and then gave Raven a genuine smile. "Raven. How wonderful to see you again." She offered Raven an air-kiss and an arm-squeeze, and said, "One of my protege's is getting her degree today, and I couldn't miss it." She lowered her voice and added, "I've only been out of Arkham for about two weeks."

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

"I am so proud of you!" Raven said. "I am here for a friend's graduation myself. Would you like to sit with us?"

She gestured back to where she'd been sitting. You know, with the superheroes.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Poison Ivy looked pretty pleased, yes.

"Thank you. We're trying a new medication, so far it seems to keep things.... clearer," Pamela concluded. Her eyes tracked over to the group, and she looked considering. "Are you sure I wouldn't be intruding?"

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Raven shook her head. "I am certain it will be all right. We have plenty of seats."

Hopefully Helena and Barbara wouldn't get upset if they realized who she was.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Upset, no. Boggling? Yes.

"I... don't think I know your friend, Raven," Barbara said, even though she knew perfectly well who it was.

"Pamela Iseley," Poison Ivy introduced herself, oblivious. "I met Raven on one of her previous visits here."

Helena was trying really hard not to facepalm.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

"I told her she could sit with us, if that is all right," Raven said. "I met Pamela on New Year's Eve, the year before last, and I came to visit her when I could."

She hoped they would understand she knew exactly who Poison Ivy was. She didn't want Barbara or Helena to feel uncomfortable, but she also wanted Pamela to feel welcomed. Maybe if Poison Ivy could be redeemed, then so could she.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

"Sure," Barbara said, because hey, keep your enemies closer. "Barbara Gordon. And this is Helena Kyle."

"It's a pleasure to meet you both," Ivy said, sitting down. "And your daughter is graduating?"

"Sister," Barbara said. "Dinah."

"You'll know who she is when we all start screaming," Helena added, then wrapped an arm around Raven's shoulders to whisper, "You do know she has a record, right?"

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

"I was the one who brought her to Arkham," Raven whispered. "I know very well who she is and what she is capable of. I have seen much improvement in her, and she says she was released because her new medication was working well for her."

Technically she'd said "been out" not "released," but Raven was often trusting to a fault.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

"Ooookay," Helena said with a sigh, nodding. And made a mental note to check into that release.

Poison Ivy, meanwhile, was taking pictures of a young woman seated with the biology college, and waving happily to her.

"That's Myra. She's graduating summa cum laude in biotechnoloy," she confided to Raven. "She asked my opinions a few years ago on one of her projects, and I've been recommending her to various places."

Like S.T.A.R. Labs. Because that would work out well.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

"I will keep an eye on her," Raven promised Helena before taking a seat beside Pamela.

"How wonderful for her," she said as Ivy pointed out Myra. "What does one do with biotechnology? I fear I do not know much about such things."

Except for nearly sleeping with cyborgs and all.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

"'The Design of ivy nanogenes in order to support the food needs of Monarch Lepidoptera along the eastern continental U.S.,'" Ivy recited, then added, "She and a few of her colleagues have been working on ways to adjust ivy and other plant DNA in order to make them more nutritious for caterpillars. A higher survival rate for butterflies is expected." She beamed proudly at Myra, who gave them a shy wave. "Once things are... calmer, for me, I hope to make a few contributions to the project from the other side, once the plants are grown."

Barbara was already trying to think of way to control free-range wild ivy.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Raven smiled at Ivy. "Butterflies are such beautiful creatures," she said. "I can see why you would wish to help. I would be curious to see how the project progresses. She will be taking safeguards to protect the balance of nature?"

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

"Definitely," Pamela said, her voice grave, then lightening a little. "They'll be testing in the lab for a little while longer, then in a controlled field area. In order to screen out predators. Much as I love plants, I think I admire their ability to achieve symbiosis with others." She shook her head. "Listen to me! I haven't even asked which college your friend is graduating from. I don't suppose she's in the sciences department?"
