The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

So there'd been threats. Bomb threats. Bio threats. Not very serious ones; the police were on alert, but honestly, everyone who could really cause trouble was in Arkham. Still, it was decided that holding the graduation ceremony at the stadium would be safer than anywhere indoors.

It was a gorgeous day, and the about-to-graduate seniors were in all their black-and-green robes, looking happy, and bouncing beach balls around.

Dinah was taking photos of the crowd from her seat in the L's.

Helena, Alfred, and Barbara had scored good seats on the second tier, thanks to Barbara's wheelchair needs, and were holding seats for friends.

[Say hi to the New Gotham crew, phone, text, or wave to Dinah!.]

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

It would take way more than their current awkwardness and tension to keep Priestly away from Dinah's graduation.

He waved every time she seemed to be looking in their direction, like a giant dork. He was pretty sure that was a 'proud family and friends' requirement.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Dinah took a picture of him waving. Yay for zoom function! Then she sent him the photo, along with SO NERVOUS SO WIRED SO MUCH COFFEEEEE!

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Pretty sure they're not going to turn you down NOW

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Raven took a seat in the Dinah Row, and once the ceremony actually started it would have her full attention. But until then, her attention was on her cell phone and the videos she was streaming. It was Eurovision, OK? This was important! There was music to enjoy. Or boggle at.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

"What are you watching?" Helena asked, curious, draping herself over Raven's shoulder. Then she started laughing.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Someone very familiar was walking through the stadium, trying to find her seat. Even if she wasn't wearing vines and leaves, she was pretty unmistakable, if you knew what to look for.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

As if Jono was going to miss this. Sure, he was aiming to stick around long enough to say his congratulations and then flee, but at least he was here!

He found a seat near the back, settled in, and waited for the ceremony to begin.

... He probably wouldn't flee.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Pfft. As if he stood a chance of not going to the party afterwards if Raven could help it.

Before the ceremony began, she wandered back and sat down next to him, eyes on her phone "What do you think of this?" she said, turning the screen to him so he could see Belarus perform. "Is it not a great song?"

She was teasing, just to see his reaction, and somehow managed to keep a straight face. She thought the song was quite silly. Cheesecake?

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Like Momoko wouldn't be here?

She scooted into the Dinah row, bumping people as she passed... what? It was hard to see with all the balloons and the flowers and the sign and the gift bag and...

"Oops. Sorry, Ms Helena!"

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

"Not a problem, Momoko." Helena had stood up and was heading toward the small concession stand, and she smiled widely. "Love the balloons. What does the sign say?"

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

There was no way Sam was going to miss this. It was so weird to think about Dinah graduating already, and he knew what an accomplishment that was. Plus, it was nice to see other familiar faces.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Dinah caught sight of him, blinked, then waved frantically and happily at him. YAY SAM!

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Ugh, Portalocity was THE VERY WORST. Karla dove for a chair right before the commencement music started, which at least covered up her, "YES! I'M ON TIME!" cry.

...Look, it had been a very near thing. She was allowed to cheer if she wanted to.

Re: The Graduation Ceremony (and any time after Dinah gets that diploma)

Dinah turned her head then, spotting a blonde person in her section, and jumped in the air, waving like a crazy person.
