Room 312, Saturday
[Continued from here and Vancouver!]

Dinah
Dinah was lazing in her room Saturday, talking to Francine. "So yeah. I'm considering quitting the flower shop. I really like it, but, I don't know. Maybe something more private investigation oriented."

Francine
Francine gave her an amused grin. "Not enough people getting stabbed with long-stemmed roses for you?"

Dinah
"Pretty much." Dinah admitted with a grin. "It's good for the money, and all, but not so much anything else, so..."

Merlin
And that would be when Merlin was knocking. And peering on in like the horrible person he was about privacy. "Hello?"

Francine
That was so going to get him in trouble sometime. But not this time. "Hi!" It was a cheerier hello than it might have been a week ago, needless to say.

Dinah
"Hi, Merlin!" Dinah grinned at him. "C'mon in, we're just hanging out. With cookies. And a cat."

Merlin
"Do either of you know how to get to Canada?" It was a mythical place to him, after all.

Francine
This is Francine. This is Francine's buh? face. "It's kind of...." Dinah's window faced north, right? Sure it did. "A thousand or so miles that way?"

Dinah
"We could drive there in a day or so," Dinah said, looking equally dubious. "Or fly there in, I don't know, six or eight hours. Depending on what part of Canada. It's big. Way big. Humongous. Why are you going to Canada?"

And that would be her suspicious-face, 'cause she knows someone in Canada, oh yes she does.

Merlin

"Tony called me." Innocent Merlin is innocent.

Francine
"And he wants you to come up there?" He didn't get Francine's suspicious-face; she wasn't as familiar with the fact that the T in Tony stood for Trouble.

Dinah
"Tony called you and not me?" Dinah was doing the squinty face of Doom now. Because she did know that about Tony. "And he wants you to go to where he is in Canada? By yourself? For a visit? When he's so busy with work he only gets Sundays off? Because why?"

Mr. Gibbs would be so impressed with her interrogations skills.

Merlin
Merlin was mostly blinking at all the questions in a row. "Um, it was a magical thing. Not really your expertise?"

Dinah
Yeahno. Not with how much Dinah missed Tony, and how much trouble he got in without her. "Great. I'll go with you. That'll make it easier." She gave him a big, cheerful smile. "Right, Francine? Don't you think?"

Francine
Now Francine eyed them both. "To Canada."

Merlin
"Great!" Dinah beamed at him, then frowned. "Hunh. You don't exist on paper outside this island. We can get you a ticket, but... okay, we can do this. Somehow." She looked at Francine. "Do you think the school would help to get Merlin ID?" Momentum, thy name is Lance.

Francine
Francine took the sort of breath you take before you suggest something even you know is cataclysmically stupid, and yet. "I'm pretty sure Chuck could."

Merlin
Yes, Merlin was just going to let her... do that. "Why would I need one of those?"

Dinah
"Because otherwise, best case, the authorities don't let you on the plane. And worst case they arrest you for being an illegal alien and throw you in jail. So yeah. Proper identification papers for you, and, oh, Jack Priest, he'll want to go too." Dinah frowned, and went to her computer. "Unless Portalocity has one today--" She pulled up the website. "Shoot. No. Next portal to Vancouver is Monday, unless we want to pay for the super-express one - who wants to offer their first-born child?"

Francine
"No offering babies!" Not that Francine actually had any, but geez!

Merlin
"Babies?" Dear god, woman! You're confusing the poor wizard!

Dinah
"No babies, because even though I'm not having any ever I'm not giving them to Portalocity--" Yeah, that'll unconfuse things. Like Dinah cares.

"Planes." Dinah looked around, starting to get over that edge of determined to frantic. "Purse purse, need my emergency Visa for tickets, purse! Three tickets. Tonight. Landing in Vancouver. No, ID first, then tickets." She bit her lip and looked over at Francine. "Do you really think Chuck can do it?"

Francine
"I think Chuck could buy us a plane if he wanted," Francine said, rolling her eyes a little. At Chuck, not Dinah. "We just have to make him want to."

Merlin
"Four," Merlin corrected slowly. "Um, perhaps you ought to ask Jack first?"

Dinah
"Four," Dinah repeated, then said, "Four? And okay. I'll ask. He made me promise to tell him last time Tony got in trouble, though. But yeah, maybe he can't go. Who's four?"

Merlin
"Well, Arthur." That was said as though it was a big duh.

Francine
"Duh," Francine said for him. She gave them suspicious-face now. "What are you getting yourselves into?"

Dinah
"Big trouble, if I know Tony and Vancouver and him being the only wizard there who's worth the name," Dinah said, starting to bounce on her toes. "Merlin? What kind of magic trouble is he in that he needs you there?" And didn't ask me, might be inferred from the pout.

Merlin
Merlin very carefully reached over to stop the bouncing. "Demon Convergence. He needed another wizard to help."

Francine
"Sounds fun," Francine said in that way where fun meant dangerous and I'm letting any of you out of my sight why again?

Dinah
"Maybe," Dinah said. Thinking of last weekend, and Tony's experience with the haunted house, she shuddered, feeling a chill. "Or maybe not." Which was maybe part of why he didn't call her about this, aside from it not being magic. "But. It's Tony." She looked at Francine, then Merlin. "You get it, right?"

Merlin
"...what part?"

Francine
"The part where if you can do something to come through for your friends, you do," Francine said with a sigh and a shake of her head. And I'll be here eating cookies and worrying about you, so try to come back sometime.

Dinah went down to Jack's room.

Dinah
Knock knock!

Dinah was trying not to bounce so much, but jittering? Definitely happening.

Jack
And there was Jack, pulling the door open with one hand while a finger marked his place in his book. "Dinah!" he exclaimed, a little surprised both to see her and by the jittering. "Hi. Would you like to come in?"

Dinah
"Have to pack. Want to go to Vancouver? Tonight? For a while?" Dinah widened her eyes, looking hopeful. "Tony sent up a smoke signal."

Jack
"Of course," Jack said, alarm flickering through his eyes. "What did he say was wrong?"

Dinah
"He didn't tell me," which still had her annoyed, although she could guess Tony's reasons, "But there's some kind of 'demonic convergence' and he wants Merlin to help him. So it's got to be serious." She bit her lip. "I can buy the tickets fast enough for tonight, and you can pay me back later? Have you got ID, or should Francine ask Chuck for some for you too?"

Jack
"I spoke to Chuck some weeks ago," Jack said. "I've a British passport and driving papers. Worry about Merlin."

His speech was brisk, but he looked worried. Demonic convergence certainly didn't sound good.

"I should have the money to pay you as soon as you tell me what I owe."

Dinah
"Tell you when we get back, I'll leave the tickets open-ended and all." Dinah took a breath. "Yay, Jack. Thanks. Merlin's bringing Arthur too, for the muscle mostly. I don't know where we're staying but we can get a hotel when we get there, if we don't need to be staying with Tony to deal with--" She made a wavey hand-motion. "Whatever." She grinned in relief. "See you in an hour to get to the airport."

Jack
"All of that makes sense," Jack said, already glancing about the room for where he'd stashed his bag. "I'll see you in a bit, Dinah."
